Creating your own content set – What should you modify?

  • Updated

The Course Editor is a powerful feature of All You Can Learn that allows instructors to modify the standard course materials provided. The possibilities are nearly endless, but the starting point is always a copy of the existing materials as offered on the platform.

The course sets are reviewed annually and come with a quality guarantee. This means that all core tasks, work processes, knowledge, and skills from the qualification dossier are incorporated. Therefore, it is advisable to always use the most recent course set as a basis, as it is up to date and may contain important changes compared to previous versions.

Why Use the Course Editor?

There are several reasons why you might want to modify a course set. The extent of the modifications depends on your goals and the needs of your students.

1. Minor Adjustments

Sometimes, a small adjustment is sufficient, such as:

  • Removing an assignment (check the ‘Qualifications’ tab to ensure that no essential part of the qualification dossier is lost).
  • Adding an assignment to provide additional depth.
  • Changing a specific word or sentence in an assignment.

Even a minimal adjustment, such as clarifying an instruction, can be a good reason to use a customized course set.

2. Contextual Adjustments

Would you like the assignments to better align with a specific target group or program? Then you can make more significant modifications, for example:

  • Career-Specific Focus: If you are offering an elective module like Entrepreneurial Behavior within a baking program, you can adjust assignments to focus more on starting a bakery.
  • Adjusting Language Level: For students who speak Dutch as a second language, you can simplify the language used in assignments without changing the learning objectives.

3. Creating a Completely New Course Set

Do you want to implement an entirely new teaching approach? Then you can clear a course set and rebuild it with your own assignments. This requires more effort but provides maximum flexibility to develop a course that fully aligns with your vision and educational philosophy.

By making smart use of the Course Editor, you can tailor the course materials to your students and educational objectives without losing the quality and structure of the original materials.
