Where can I find the exam documents?
For each course, you can go to the 'Exams' tab in the coach environment. If an exam is linked to the course, you will at least find the candidate instructions, assessor instructions, and the assessment form there.
How does my student see the exam?
As a coach, once you've determined that your participant is ready for the exam, you can click a button to release it. When the candidate next logs into All You Can Learn and selects the correct course, a box labeled 'Exam' will appear above the assignments. The candidate can click on it and will then see the instructions and additional information—identical to what you as a coach can view in the PDF document 'Candidate Exam Instructions' available in the coach environment.
Why does the completed assessment form say 'Passed' when the student has a failing grade?
For all exams from our exam provider Exa.men, the submitted work must meet two conditions before it can be assessed:
- The submitted work must be assessable—all parts of the assignment must be addressed, and the work must be done by the candidate. This means that no parts of the assignment may be skipped. Any components that are not completed cannot be assessed, and as a result, the exam as a whole will be blocked from assessment.
-
Each component must score at least 1 point. Note: this refers to components, not criteria. Each component can consist of multiple criteria, and it is therefore allowed to score 0 on one or more criteria. As long as there is at least one sufficient criterion within each component, the exam is considered assessable.
If the candidate meets these conditions, you will see 'Passed' twice in fields F8 and F9 on the 'Decision' tab of the assessment form. This does not mean the candidate passed the exam, only that the minimum requirements were met for the exam to be considered assessable. The exam is considered passed when these requirements are met and the candidate scores enough points to achieve a 5.5 or higher.
Why is the exam protected? Can I get the password?
The password is not needed to use the assessment form. It is in place to protect the calculation formulas that determine the final grade. As long as you only click on the cells that are meant to be filled in, the protection will not interfere with your work.
Can I get the exam as a PDF file?
Exa.men believes in modern and reliable examination methods, and the spreadsheet-based assessment forms are a key part of this. Since the final grade is automatically calculated when you fill in the scores, and the formula is protected, the Exa.men assessment forms are less prone to errors. Therefore, the exams are only available as spreadsheets.
I'm a member of an examination committee and I don't work with All You Can Learn. How can I access the exams?
The exams can also be viewed via the exam vault. You can create an account there to gain access to all exam documents. After creating an account, send a message to All You Can Learn so we know your account needs to be approved. All accounts are manually approved to prevent students from misusing the exam vault.
